The main theme of Oceanthon 2021 is "Ocean&Climate", participants will compete to address the increasingly important challenge related to the climate crisis, with the aim of finding interdisciplinary solutions to face global change effects on society and the environment. The focus is dedicated to the Mediterranean area, and for this reason the call is open to both individuals and trained teams from all Mediterranean coastal states.
The event is addressed to everyone aged 18 and over, from researchers, innovators, developers, marine scientists, social scientists, designers, engineers, experts in economy, business and communication, from all the Mediterranean countries, who are ready to use their skills and entrepreneurial spirit and join forces to develop ideas that can respond to present and future challenges while promoting greater knowledge of the ocean, its protection and the sustainable use of marine resources.

To proceed with the submission, the team must have followed all the rules of the hackathon:
- The team must have attended all three checkpoints together with their team mentor.
- The team must have at least 2 active members within the dedicated workspace.
- Projects that already exist but are not present on the market can be submitted. The final demo/presentation must be original and linked to the Oceanthon challenges.

Achievements through hackathon
Mentors will report to the jury their considerations on the progress made by teams and will score the teams' ability and attitude. These considerations will be taken into account by the jury when awarding the winning team.
